Rutgers Philosophy, the Compositionality Sessions

About

The Compositionality Sessions is a series of weekly meetings aimed at exploring topics related to the principle of compositionality, according to which the meaning of a complex expression is determined by the meaning of its parts and its mode of composition. The sessions will cover a wide variety of topics ranging from the questions of the truth or falsity of the principle and its explanatory utility, questions that have been addressed in the philosophy of language and mind, to particular approaches to composition explored in formal semantics and cognitive psychology. Every other meeting features a presentation by a researcher who has done notable work on compositionality, and every other meeting is dedicated to the discussion of one or several central texts on compositionality.

The meetings are held on Fridays at 1:10pm in the Seminar Room (128-129) of Davison Hall on Douglass Campus. The meetings are open to anyone interested.
